Depending on the number of players, each player is dealt a certain number of cards at the start of the game, usually splaywin 567even or ten. A draw pile is formed by the remaining cards, and the discard pile is initiated by placing the top card face-up. In order to form legitimate sets and sequences, players alternately draw cards from the draw or discard pile.
