Depending on the variant being played, each player is dealt a certain number of cards at the start of the game, usually seven or ten. After drawing a card from the dislots win loginscard pile or the stockpile, each player discards one card from their hand. Choosing which cards to keep and which to discard while monitoring their opponents' moves is where the strategic component enters the picture. The game is over when one player declares "Rummy" and successfully melds all of their cards into sets and runs.
