Each player is dealt a set number of cards at the start of the game, typically ten, with the remaining cards mgame dowaking up the draw pile. The discard pile is initiated by placing the top card face-up from the draw pile. The players alternately draw a card from the discard pile or the draw pile, then discard one card from their hand.
